Reference Tools Online
Writer’s Market
Writer’s Market has been online for a while now, offering the same great resources by subscription. The subscription rate is comparable to the cost of the print edition, only better: a few added resources, constantly updated listings, and the knowledge that you’ve saved a whole lot of trees.
The Chicago Manual of Style
Those of us who still have the fourteenth edition can now subscribe to the fifteenth online rather than order a new book — the bible of the publishing industry offers reasonable subscription rates and features a great Q&A section.
Visual Thesaurus
Some writers are no-nonsense about their thesauruses — but for those who want a little adventure, try Thinkmap’s Visual Thesaurus, an interactive dictionary and thesaurus that will expand your vocabulary and provide hours of procrastination.

Self Publishing
Lulu
Though we have not used Lulu, the company has been getting lots of press lately as a viable solution for self-publishing. We’ve also heard some good reviews from clients about its costs and user-friendliness. However, keep in mind that there are similar companies out there; do your research before selecting a partner.
